Jon and I have officially lost our marbles. See, we thought it would be a fun idea to go camping over Spring Break. We originally planned to go 2 nights, but then realized that 1 night was probably plenty of time. It took a LONG time to get all packed, but we finally did, and there was even room left for the kids . . . barely.

We went down to Lake Whitney State Park. The kids had a blast just being kids - running around, going down to the lake, throwing rocks, playing with the kids camping next to us, playing in the tent.

Jon and I loved the peace and the calm. Except for a few phone calls on his cell phone, we were away from everything. I loved just sitting by the fire and relaxing. This was the first time I have ever done the food for a campout, and I think I must have my mother's genes. Yeah, we had WAY too much food! I even made a dutch oven cobbler (which wasn't too bad!) AND s'mores. Hey, we had a lot to cram into one night!
The night was fun because it actually got cold. Kelsey and Adam had a hard time sleeping because they kept waking up because they were cold. At one point, we had Jon, me, Adam & Kelsey all sleeping on our air mattress. That was fun! It was one of those nights when you keep looking at the clock, just praying it's time to get up because you're tired of trying to sleep!
Saturday morning we all got up and went on a hike. Yeah, the kids loved that. Actually, Emily did like it. She had a walking stick and just left us in the dust. The boys were another story. Robbie got tired halfway through, and kept leaning on Jon for support. Jon actually had to carry Adam for parts toward the end. It was pretty though!

All in all, we had a great time. We figure we'll even do it again! Well just stay for more than one night next time!
