The Adventures of Snow Boy and Cabin Girl

Once upon a time, there were three children.  These children were Texans, which for those of you who don't know, means that they did not know what real snow was.  These poor, misguided waifs believed that snow was the stuff that fell from the sky two or three times a year and coated the roads with ice.  Yes, they had never even made a snow angel.  In fact, they thought you were supposed to make carpet angels.  Then, their amazing parents, took them on a long (and we mean LONG) road trip to the great and beautiful state of Utah.  There they saw a wonder that their eyes had rarely beheld.  SNOW!  More snow than they even thought existed.

We shall start with the youngest child, Bodadam.  (Names have been changed to protect the innocent.)  We must start with Bodadam, because he is two, and he'll throw a temper tantrum if he's not first.  Bodadam was not a very happy camper on the trip up to the great land of the Utes.  In fact, he spent much of the trip up crying.  But only when it was snowing and his Mom and Dad were already stressed out.  Such a helpful kid!  He did, however, become happier when his mean parents let him escape the car.  He loved snowmobiling with his Uncle Brad, and when he saw a picture of a snowmobile yesterday exclaimed "Grandpa!  Snowmobile!"  Ah, our job has been well done.

The middle child, Falemily, had a pretty good trip.  Oh, except for the part where she kept throwing up.  We think Falemily had some altitude sickness.  That, however, did not slow her down.  Nor did the fact that her Mom almost rolled a snowmobile over her.  (Her Mom fell off into about two feel of powder, but Falemily held on and was fine!)  Falemily liked building castles in the snow and sliding down the roof of the cabin.  Oh, and the movies inside the cabin were pretty fun too!

It is a miracle that the eldest child, Bobert, did not turn into snow.  He would have slept outside in it if his parents had let him.  Bobert must have some Utah blood in him after all.  He loved snowmobiling, playing in the snow, sledding down the hill (50 times! Then tirelessly climbing back up each time!), eating koolaid snow cones (and we mean REAL snow!), getting buried, or playing with his icicle sword.  It did not matter what he did, as long as he was outside, he was happy.  And his Mom and Dad were happy too!

As for this Mom and Dad, they too had a good time.  The Mom was ecstatic to see the beautiful snow again, and the Dad was ecstatic that he didn't break anything this time.  This fairy tale has not ended.  Yes, this family returned home safely (and with much less crying that the trip up!) and has many pictures and fond memories.  This is not happily ever after, however, it is just the beginning of many happy trips to the cabin in the future!
