Fascination

My kids make me nuts.  It's just a fact of life.  They hear me say it quite often.  Adam frequently repeats my statement, telling me that I make HIM nuts.  It's kinda our little joke.  But for all the things they do that drive me crazy, I am fascinated with my kids, and every little thing they do.  For instance - Kelsey has started to wave whenever someone says "hi" or "bye".  And it's not the up-and-down wave of a baby, but a full-fledged beauty-queen-side-to-side thing.  It's just about the cutest thing EVER.  Every time she does it, I have to point it out to whoever is nearby, regardless of if they have seen it or not. Robbie is really starting to pick up reading.  He's been reading for a while, but now he's READING.  It just amazes me to see him figure out "Abinadi".  Seriously cool. Emily has always loved drawing.  Now, her drawings look like things.  She draws octopuses, and mountains, and people looking odd.  She stays in the lines coloring better than I do.  Kelsey loves the piano.  She's figured out that she can pull herself up and just reach the keys to make noise.  Then she beams at whoever is around as if to say "Look what I did?  Isn't that cool?"  So cute. Adam is obsessed with superheroes.  He can't decide what he wants to be for Halloween.  First is was Batman (which he's already been), then Superman (ditto), then Green Lantern (who I've never heard of, but must exist since his stuffed dog is named after him).  Now, he wants to be Wolverine from X-Men.  Do you have any idea how much it makes me giggle inside when every morning he asks me to give him "Wolverine hair"? Robbie, who didn't really seem to notice his little sister when she was born, LOVES Kelsey.  I looked over today to see him holding both her hands and walking her around the room.  What a good big brother! Emily is a lot like me.  She's smart (hey, I'm not bragging or anything!), she loves school, she's a rule abider down to her toes, and she's the teachers pet.  Two days ago, she begged me to buy an apple so she could take her teacher one.  Her teacher informed me earlier this week (in a whisper so none of the other parents would hear and feel bad) that kids like Emily are the reason she teaches.  Yeah, I think she likes Em.  Adam is by far my sweetest kid (he can also be the most whiny and clingy, but that's a different story).  I can't count how many times a day Adam will come up to me, unprovoked, and say "I love you Mommy".  It just makes my day! (And almost makes up for the million times a day he asks for a snack regardless of the fact that he didn't eat his breakfast and has been warned to NOT ask for a snack!) See, aren't my kids totally awesome and fascinating?  Yeah, I thought so . . .
