It's Sunday night. We have successfully made it home from our vacation. We traveled 51 hours and about 2800 miles. We have unpacked and unloaded. We made it through Sunday. Now, it's time for a few mindless musings from the mama.
1. Kids really do say "Are we there yet?"
2. They say "Are we there yet?" when you have been driving for less than 10 minutes.
3. Apparently there are no children out east. At least that was what we figured due to the lack of McDonalds playlands and changing stations in bathrooms.
4. Kids really aren't interested in McDonalds if there is nowhere to play.
5. If you are going to the beach and need to put sunscreen on your children, do it before you get there. Otherwise, you are just rubbing sand around with the sunscreen, and the children are probably going to whine at you. On the plus side, their skin is nice and smooth.
6. Seagulls really like PB&J. Especially from a 3-year-old.
7. "A soft taco is just like a hard taco, only more emotional." -Moes Southwest Grille
8. "If quesadillas could talk, that would be frightening."- again, Moes Southwest Grille
9. Barstow, CA is
only 2540 miles from Wilmington, NC. (Yes, they really have a sign!)
10. Dutch oven cooking is probably the BEST cooking in the whole world! Mmmmm!
11. Just because you can play a tuba really well does NOT mean that you are as gifted at playing a trombone.
12. Someone not gifted at playing a trombone is HIGHLY entertaining.
13. Sparklers are still entertaining at 31 years old.
14. "Ratpatooty" is a much better name for the movie "Ratatouille" according to Emily.
15. Jon REALLY likes to drive, since the only place he let Aubrey drive was to Wal-Mart. Once. The entire week.
So. there you have it. Some of my observations from our wonderful week. Here are a few pictures of the Fourth of July - North Carolina Style. Thanks to Jeff & Debbi and the kids for our wonderful time. You guys are amazing!
