Sadly, this is a smile. After he got hit, Robbie was pouring blood and crying. It took him about 20 minutes to calm down, but he toughed it out and went back out to play. It was really sweet because all the parents and kids cheered for him when he went back out.
Unfortunately, he had a double header and in the middle of the game, we noticed that one of his teeth was out of line and he was bleeding. So we ended up making an emergency trip to the dentist at 6:30. Thankfully, the nerve wasn't broken, so they splinted the tooth up. Yeah, I didn't know what that meant. But they basically put a giant cement bandaid over the front three teeth to hold the loose one in place until it can heal. As you can see, his upper lip is pretty swollen, and his gums on the inside are a mess.
And do you remember how I said I love our new baseball league? The coach AND his wife came over and totally helped Robbie. They got towels to stop the blood, and ice to put on it. He even got some ice pops to suck on to help with the pain. When we left, the coach's wife gave me her cell phone number so we could call and let them know how Robbie was. It was so sweet!
Thank heavens everything is okay, and he didn't lose a tooth! And besides, he now has a great story to tell everyone tomorrow at church!
