Good Luck

For those of you who don't know, Jon received a new calling at church on Sunday.  And it's a pretty time consuming one - one that will require Jon to be away from the family a lot.  We are all adjusting to it.   Frankly, we're still in a little bit of shock.  Jon is trying to figure out all of the stuff that he immediately has to do.  I am trying to figure out how I can best support him.  It's been an interesting couple of weeks.  On Sunday, after Jon was called, many people in the ward came up to us and "congratulated" us - or offered their "condolences".   We really weren't sure what the proper term was!  But everyone was so amazingly sweet and supportive.  I can't even begin to count the number of people who realized was this calling meant to our family and came and offered their support in any way that we needed.   And that meant so much to us.   We have always been the people who never need anything.  We're pretty self-sufficient.   And if we have ever needed anything, Randi and CJ (my sister and brother-in-law) are always there.  I mean, we only had food brought in for one of our 4 babies.  But, I think this is a situation where I will need the support.  So, I am so thankful for everyone who so willingly offered it.  It still brings tears to my eyes to think of it. As a last note, one sweet family in the ward called and wanted to bring us a treat.  This family has a little boy that just loves Jon and jabbers his ear off any time he's around him.  The strange thing is that he's really shy, and doesn't talk to anyone other than "Brudder Gee".  This little boy was upset with Jon's new calling because he doesn't want to call him anything other than Brudder Gee, and he's worried that Jon won't play with him anymore.   I think it's okay if Jon is still Brudder Gee to him . . . and I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll still play with him!  So, this family brought us one of the most adorable treats I have ever seen.  It must have taken forever.  We even took a picture of it! [photopress:100_5127.jpg,full,centered] In case you can't see it, there is a cookie likeness of each member or our family, surrounded by hearts, and it says "Good Luck" on the bottom.  Isn't that the cutest thing ever?  I think we now know the proper words . . . Good luck!  I am so thankful that this sweet family took the time to think of us.   And I think we'll take all the good luck we can get!
