This was my day today:
6:15 - Oh good, Kelsey's up early. I have a lot to do, so an early start will be okay.
6:20 - Make lunches
6:30 - Feed Kelsey.
6:40 - Feed everyone else.
7:00 - Get kids dressed.
7:25 - Take kids to school
7:40 - Take shower, clean kitchen, make bed, pick up house.
9:15 - Go on Field Trip to hospital with Emily's class. We saw Safety Bear. I think I'm still humming the song they sang. "He's a friend to me, he's a friend to you, he will show us what is safe to do. He is always there, he will always care. He's a friend for life - Safety Bear." See, I even remember all the words.
12:45 - Leave field trip to go pick up Robbie for dentist appointment.
1:45 Dentist appointment for boys. It did not go so well. Robbie has this weird fear complex. He is afraid of new things, or things he's not comfortable with. After an hour and half of trying to get Robbie to calm down so the dentist could fill his teeth, we gave up and went home. I was extremely upset. And in typical Mom fashion, I started lecturing him. It's all kind of hazy, but I'm pretty sure I informed him that it cost me money, and he was a big kid, and he needs to just toughen up. Yeah, one of my greatest mommy moments. We were both pretty upset. I finally calmed down, and apologized to him, feeling like a horrible mom. When we got home, Robbie went upstairs, and got all his money (which was about 26 cents because he spent it all at the book fair), and gave it to me because I was sad and he was trying to help make up for the money it cost me at the dentist. Yeah, I felt even worse after that. But, what a sweet kid he is.
3:45 - Finally home from the dentist. Sit and stare at the computer for about 15 minutes.
4:15 - Run to pharmacy to pick up medicine for Emily. Yep, she has another UTI. Spendid.
4:45 - Home and make dinner, do homework with kids.
5:45 - Dinner (I'm so tired at this point that it takes me a full hour to make hamburgers. I think I just wandered around the kitchen randomly looking for things.) Spend the next HOUR trying to convince Adam to eat. I think he ate 2 bites in that time. Seriously. Jon gives the kids a lecture about how I'm the queen of our house and that they should be nice to me and not yell at me. I think by this time I look a little scary and Jon's worried. Adam looks at him and says "But if the queen yells at us, then it's okay to yell at her." Too tired to laugh.
6:30 - Do dishes
6:45 - Give the kids baths and get them ready for bed. (Oh yeah, did I mention that Jon has class tonight?)
7:30 - BEG the kids to just go to sleep so I will not be the yelling queen. Collapse on the couch. Is it time for bed?!?
So, if anyone ever asks what a stay at home mom does all day, I may just laugh hysterically.
