Earlier this week, my little bro Jeff started up our 2nd annual NCAA Basketball brackets. Now, let me clarify something. I don't watch college basketball. I root for the University of North Carolina Tarheels, but only because Jeff works there. And frankly, I'm scared that he would fly here and paint my house light blue if I didn't root for them. But I've never seen them play. I've never seen any college team play. I did the bracket thing last year, and I'm sad to say, I was TERRIBLE. So, this year, in the true spirit of competition, I did research. Yes, research on a sport I don't watch. Because I want to win.
So, today was day one, and guess what? I became competitive. I have checked the scores all day - for teams I don't even know. I didn't realize it had become bad until the last game tonight. It was Western Kentucky vs. Illinois. I chose W. Kentucky to win, even though they were the underdog, because some guy I read said to. Jon picked Illinois. I saw my team was winning by a small margin late in the game, and I had to turn on the TV to watch. When they did something good, I cheered like I was a lifelong fan. I'm pretty sure I said things like "THAT'S why I picked Western Kentucky to win!" And Jon only laughed a little bit.
After the game was over, and Kentucky won, they posted their name - the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. I had just rooted for a team that I didn't even know their mascot. But it was fun! So, congrats to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers! Thanks for winning so that I can be number #1 in our bracket . . . at least for a minute!

Now that is funny... only because it's something I'd do myself. I have to remind myself to rein it in around new people that I'd like to be friends with eventually... but I'm most competitive with steve. Doesn't seem like it would be a good thing- but it works for us.
Well, I just have to say that this morning I went to check the scores... and lo and behold... Aubrey is winning our small family bracket.
I always knew she was smart, but this is just absurd... I watched all year... I sweated and toiled over my bracket for an hour and a half... :)
Na, just kidding. Go hilltoppers... err... I mean Heels!!!
(p.s. Light blue house... now that's a good idea!)
