Several weeks ago, Jon and I decided it was time to give the kids more responsibility. They have chores that they have to do each day - make their beds, clean their rooms, pick up the gameroom - but we have never assigned anything extra. We figured it was time. So each kid now has to vacuum their room on Saturday, do one night of dishes and have a weekly chore (such as cleaning a bathroom or taking out the trash). Thus far, it has worked well, mostly because we are bribing them with allowance. There has been almost no whining and my house is much cleaner! Any allowance is a fortune to a kid, and frankly cheaper than a maid service!
Tonight, Robbie was doing the dinner dishes to make up for Friday night when we weren't here. I walked into the kitchen to see this:
Don't you love the giant boots? What a snappy dresser that boy is! I'm grateful for my kids - not only because they are such good helpers, but also because they make me smile! :-)

Dude Robby! That is one rocking outfit! I love the chores idea! Keep it up!!
He looks so stinking old in this picture. When did you all get so old that you can have a kid that can do his own dishes... and wear those awesome boots? Wow! I am glad it is working out!
I think this is a subliminal hint... "I want to go snowmobiling with the boys.... "
I am sure it will not be very many years before we see this one come true!
