Dinosaur Valley

Today we had a Cub Scout field trip scheduled for Dinosaur Valley. Unfortunately, it's been raining for the past two days, and was still sprinkling this morning. Being mostly concerned about the mud, we canceled the trip.

That did not stop the Gees, though! We had promised the kids we were going to Dinosaur Valley, and darn it, we were going to go! Another family decided to brave the weather as well, so we set off.

It ended up being a fantastic day! The river was lower than I've ever seen, so when we had to cross the stepping stone bridge, we didn't even have to take our shoes off. We could still see the dinosaur footprints. The mud wasn't bad at all. We mostly just walked around the really bad parts. We waded in the river. And by waded, I mean that the kids walked around in the water until they "accidently" fell in. Then they just played and got soaking wet. (But it's okay - we brought extra clothes). As a sidenote, one adult fell in too, although I can tell you with absolute confidence that it was NOT on purpose. Mostly because said adult did not have extra clothes and had to spend the rest of the afternoon in soggy jeans that did not dry. :-) It didn't rain except for a few tiny sprinkles right at the beginning. I did feel really sad that the rest of the boys and their families did not come. I think we made the right decision, because we had no idea what conditions would be there. Here are a few pics of our day!

Are the Mavs playing tonight? Hmmm, how would I possibly know?

Robbie and I being silly - we haven't taken bluebonnet pictures this year, so we found TWO and took a picture!

The obligatory Kelsey backpack picture!

Snack time!

Yay! I'm so glad you guys went and had a great time! Sorry about the accidental fall in the river - wet jeans are no fun!
