Pig Flu

I am scared to death of the Swine Flu. I blame it on my Mom. Several years ago, when the bird flu was wreaking havoc in China, Mom told me all the horrible things that could happen if it became worldwide. In all fairness, she didn't do this to terrify me, but to make sure we were prepared. But, I was mostly scared. (I love you Mom!)

But, now we have this Swine Flu. And it's not in China. It's in Mexico - our friendly neighbors to the south - as well as here. I don't think the media should be able to use words like "pandemic." Because I automatically want to run to the store and buy 50 cases of water and a bunch of chocolate in case I am confined to my home. I KNOW everyone in the U.S. has recovered. I KNOW most cases have been like a mild flu. I KNOW more people die from the regular flu than have died from this. But, it still freaks me out.

I didn't buy the 50 cases of water. I did buy a bunch of hand sanitizer which I made each kid use as soon as they got home from school. I'm wondering if it's against the rules to send hand sanitizer in their backpacks with instructions to use it every 10 minutes. I gave them a lecture about germs - you know, wash your hands after you use the restroom, don't eat food off the floor, don't put your hands other people's mouths. Heck, I would probably make them wear those surgical masks if I didn't worry that people would draw unfortunate Michael Jackson parallels. So, I'll content myself with that . . . for now.

So, what do you think? Are you paranoid like me and this scares you? Or, are you a little more laid back and this doesn't bother you? Just curious . . .

Yes I am a little nervous, but I would be more so if my kids were in school (one more good thing about home school!) But good call on the chocolate. I know whose house we are coming to if the world comes to an end!

I don't like it either, but I guess I don't have to worry about the kids picking it up at school, so I am not as worried. Although- you know the stocking up on chcolate sounds VERY improtant! I should get on that!

I'm worried about it, but I try not to think about it too much, because I don't feel like there's much I can do about it. ):

Yeah... I don't worry about it... mostly because CJ told me not to. And because he actually thinks that the yucky sickness we had a few weeks ago could have been the pig flu... just because it was a weird virus that had cold and flu like symptoms. But, we got over it and now we are fine. So, if CJ thinks that could have been the pig flu, I am not as worried about it.
But then I started to wonder how something that was definitely awful but that we got over in a relative amount of time could actually kill people. CJ says it is just a random pre-qualifier in some people's gene's... so, I guess there could still be things to worry about.
Wow... I should go to bed because I am way too long winded!

So I will tell on myself before Jennie does.. yes I am worried about it.. because I am the mom!

I went by Jennie's work today to pick up my UTA parking sticker and I took to her a spray sanitizer.. because I think Jennie probably has the germiest job on the planet! Then I proceeded over to the local store to purchase more sanitizer, lysol Oust and more kleenex. I even pulled out one of the Lysol whips and cleaned off their credit card machine for them.. it was TOTALLY gross and probably has the pig flu/bird flu and plague on it! I know I am a dork!! Stop laughing....

As for the chocolate.. I am covered.. for at least a month.. every time someone is thinking about me in the last 10 months they drop me by something and it ALWAYS has chocolate in it.. they are so Wise!!!
