Packin' Heat!

Jon here... I just have a funny story to pass on about the crazy things that kids say. We had the missionaries over for dinner last night and they also stayed for Family Home Evening. We were recounting the story of Ammon and the great service that he did for the Lamanites. Throughout the story I would ask the kids simple little questions to help them understand more. Well, it got to the part of the story where Ammon was anxious to help gather the sheep after they were scattered so that he could show forth the power of God to the other servants. My simple little question then was "What is the power of God?" I was looking for the Priesthood. I had to lead them a little bit, and I asked them "What is it that the Deacons hold?" I could see Robbie and Emily thinking, then Emily proudly exclaimed "Weapons!" Immediately, through all of the laughter, I imagined a front row at Church full of Deacons getting ready to pass the Sacrament while reloading their guns and making sure their knives were sharp enough to handle any situation. Then the image of them passing the Sacrament while tapping their guns so as to make sure that everybody knew who was in control. Just hilarious! So, everybody watch out for those Deacons who are packin' heat!
