Wild Weather

Last night during baseball, we started to see lightning.  They called the game, and we rushed home after hearing reports that a pretty good storm was headed our way with the possibility of baseball size hail.  We got the kids dressed for bed, frantically shoved stuff around in the garage to make room for Jon's car, and piled the bathroom with pillows and all the stuff we'd need in case a tornado hit.  Pretty soon, the dark, threatening clouds started rolling in.

We got all the kids in the bathroom.  They were all a little freaked out (note the look on Emily's face), but were pacified with a snack, some Reeses's Pieces and a song.  Kelsey must have thought it was Christmas with all the snacks!

Pretty soon, the hail started to fall.  Jon and I watched for a few minutes.  I have never seen anything like that in my entire life.  Jon, who's lived in Texas his whole life, was just amazed  - and REALLY glad we'd made room in the garage for his car!  After 5-10 minutes, the hail stopped and we deemed it safe to leave the bathroom.  Although that might have been because it was really hot and crowded!  Our yard looked like it had snowed.  Of course, I had planted flowers this year, and they took a pretty good beating.  But, better the flowers than anything else!  What an adventure!
